We love helping people who have recently relocated to Seattle, and this includes families. We often have families asking us about things they can do with their children year round in the Seattle area. Here are some of our favorite ideas of things you can do with your kids in Seattle:
Fun Things to Do with Kids in Seattle
You’ve just moved, and to your horror, the kids are getting restless. Even worse, maybe they’ve uttered the dreaded “b” word! Bored? They could just sit in front of the television and play video games, or you could explore just what Seattle has to offer for family fun, which is an awful lot!
The Seattle Aquarium — Whether you’re petting the spines of a sea urchin or being mesmerized by a live dive show, the Seattle Aquarium holds a vast array of exhibits that the entire family will enjoy.
However, if marine life isn’t your fancy, consider the Woodland Park Zoo featuring lions, tigers and Chilean flamingos (oh my!) along with a live bird show and a historic carousel. This attraction can’t be missed (but you may want to save it for a warmer day).
For more hands-on fun, be sure to visit the Seattle Children’s Museum. Kids can learn the science behind motion in Cog City, toddlers can play safely at the Discovery Bay, and budding architects can build legos and forts until their hearts are content in the Fort Adventure Exhibit.
If your kids happen to be history buffs another interesting (and interactive) outing is the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park which not only explores the history of Seattle and the gold rush but features demonstrations of gold panning twice a day. It also happens to be free!
Finally, described as “Seattle’s most unusual attraction”, Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour, takes its visitors underground to explore the ruins of Seattle before the city was rebuilt on top of itself.
Seattle has many unique, fun opportunities for kids and families to experience together.
